Applicants must have completed a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Arts degree from a regionally accredited institution, with a graduation GPA of at least 2.50. An official transcript is required as part of the application process.
Students who do not meet the 2.50 GPA requirement may still apply for admission under provisional status. After successful completion of the 1st semester curriculum, a student may request a change from provisional admission to full admission.
Transfer credits will be reviewed according to ECPI University’s transfer credit policy.
University of Houston
Accelerated B.S./M.S. in Computer Information Systems (CIS)/Information Systems Security (ISS)
The Accelerated B.S./M.S. degree program at the University of Houston is available to qualified undergraduate students in Computer Information Systems who have a specialization in Information Security and want to continue into graduate study right after finishing the B.S. degree.
Students who are admitted to the accelerated program may take up to 6 graduate credit hours that count toward both the bachelor’s degree in CIS and the master’s degree in Information Systems Security or Technology Project Management. The B.S. degree is awarded after the undergraduate curriculum requirements are completed, with approved graduate courses taking the place of certain undergraduate courses.
Students must still apply to the graduate program and receive admission in order to work toward the graduate degree. Admission is not guaranteed. The graduate degree will be awarded according to the graduate degree requirements that are in effect in the semester when the student applies and is admitted to the graduate program.
Application to the accelerated program is recommended during the junior year. Students who are interested may apply by submitting a general petition stating that they want to be considered for the Accelerated B.S./M.S. Degree Program in Computer Information Systems/Information Systems Security.
Students who want to apply for the B.S./M.S. Computer Information Systems/Cybersecurity accelerated pathway program must meet the following requirements:
- You must be currently enrolled in the Computer Information System, BS program.
- You must have junior standing and must have completed 30 semester hours of Department of Information Science Technology coursework.
- You must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in overall coursework.
- You must have a minimum 3.25 GPA in overall CIS coursework.
- You must receive approval from the undergraduate Program Coordinator for Computer Information Systems.
- You must receive approval from the graduate Program Coordinator for Cybersecurity.
- Students may choose up to 9 hours to count toward both the undergraduate and graduate degrees.
The CIS program will decide which graduate courses may be used in place of undergraduate degree requirements. This decision will be based on the student’s interests, the suggested graduate courses for the accelerated program, and the student’s readiness for the course content. It is expected that this process will include consultation with both the graduate degree department and the undergraduate degree department.
Saint Peter’s University
Accelerated BS/BA to MS in Cyber Security
Cyber Security is one of the most serious economic and national security challenges facing the United States and the world economy. As every industry becomes more dependent on digital systems, data protection and defense against a changing range of cyber attacks become highly important.
The Accelerated BS/BA to MS in Cyber Security at Saint Peter’s University combines two focus areas: Information Systems Security and Assurance, as well as Cyber Security and Computer Forensics.
If you are accepted into the accelerated program, you will complete 6 graduate Cyber Security credits during either the fall or spring semester within your last 30 undergraduate credits. Graduate courses taken while you are still an undergraduate student are charged at the undergraduate tuition rate and meet course requirements for both the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. The bachelor’s degree will be awarded after successful completion of all undergraduate degree requirements.

Admission Requirements
Entry into the MS Cyber Security Program is open to students in the BS in Computer Science, students in the Criminal Justice program who are following a concentration in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics, Mathematics majors who are minoring in Computer Science, and students from any major who are minoring in Cyber Security or have completed an internship in the University Cyber Security Center.
Any student may apply to the program if the student meets the requirements above and has completed 60 credits. After acceptance, the student will take 2 graduate courses within the last 30 credits. These courses may include Cyber Security and Risk Management, Cryptology, International Telcom Networks, Mobile Computing and Wireless, or Legal Aspects and Ethical Concerns.
Specific admission requirements include:
- Successful completion of 60 credits.
- A major GPA of 3.0 or higher and a Cognate Course GPA of 3.0 or higher, both at the time of application and when the BS degree is completed.
- Completion of the BS/BA degree in 4 years or less.
- Submission of the graduate application and a personal statement of 500 words.
- Official transcript(s) obtained from Enrollment Services.
- 2 letters of recommendation from the school of the undergraduate degree.
- An interview may be required.
California State University, San Marcos
Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity

- Have earned a grade point average of 2.0 or higher across all transferable college courses attempted. A higher GPA may be needed for high-demand programs or campuses.
- Be in good standing at the last college or university attended. This means you must be eligible to re-enroll at that institution.
- Have completed with a grade of C- or better 1 course in each of the 4 required areas.
